People's Hospital of Wujiang Economic and Technological Development Zone

Jiangsu, Suzhou

The People's Hospital of Wujiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, designed by Zhubo, is located on the east side of Pangdong Road, the south side of East Taihu Avenue, and the north of Ganquan East Road in Suzhou Wujiang Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is a comprehensive public hospital integrating medical, scientific research, teaching, preventive and health care functions. It is planned to have 1,000 approved beds, which is one of the most important livelihood projects that radiate Wujiang District and even the surrounding areas of Suzhou.

1 The "S"-shaped composition forms two large squares

The planning and design adopted the method of twisting the “S”-shaped volume to form two large square spaces inside and outside the site: an encircled main entrance square and a quiet and pleasant administrative research institute. "Divisions also create a pleasant architectural space experience for users of different attributes. The internal site is quiet and private, which brings users the experience of being immersed in the garden space; the public and open external plaza facilitates the rapid relief of high-density traffic and relieves the tension of the medical crowd.

The hospital is equipped with a high-rise double-unit ward building, outpatient and emergency, medical technology are arranged around the central garden courtyard, and administrative offices, scientific research and teaching, logistics, etc. are arranged on the south side of the site. The functions are closely connected with each other through the three-dimensional roof pedestrian walkway.

2 Event venue re-creation

In order to break the limitation of land use, a "three-dimensional healing space" is set up on the building skirt, and the gentle slope and the connection of the individual buildings are used to guide the crowd to arrive conveniently, and provide all users in the park with a sunny outdoor landscape. Walk-style garden space. The design borrows modern garden design methods to give the space diversified personality, adding interest and rich sense of space during the stroll.

The footpath emphasizes the multi-scale spatial combination, which runs through the whole hospital and connects the whole hospital, so that patients and medical staff can walk to various areas through the indoor medical main street, and can reach each area through the outdoor two-story pedestrian system , "The roof is the ground."

Walking on it, due to the difference in elevation from the ground level of the city and the motor vehicles on the site, the experience is far safer, quieter and more comfortable than the conventional ground garden, which is closer to the original intention of the design "to create more natural healing spaces." ".

3 Scientific modular design

Breaking from the traditional layout of "king" and "工", the outpatient department and medical technology department units are arranged according to their functions and closeness of use, thereby shortening the diagnosis and treatment flow line and improving the efficiency of the medical process. The various functions of the hospital are divided into volume, which effectively weakens the volume of the building and reduces the feeling of oppression of the building on the human psychology. At the same time, the individual functions of each building are clear to avoid mixed traffic.

Each outpatient unit is composed of a number of standard-sized specialist consultation rooms, treatment rooms and treatment rooms. These outpatient units are connected by medical staff aisles to form outpatient units. Staff and doctors can walk directly inside and separate from the patient stream. It is conducive to the increase and decrease of units and space organization, and the design makes the hospital more flexible in future use.

4 Focus on experience-light and space

Designed to implant a green light hall in each building space. In the central landscaped courtyard, visitors wait around the core space that is close to nature, bright and soothing, which can relieve tension and anxiety. In addition, on the second floor of the pedestrian platform, according to different functional needs, lighting skylights of various shapes and sizes are set to introduce bright sunlight into the indoor public space, creating a peaceful and soothing environment for medical treatment.

Each volume of the building conforms to the shape to create an affinity for the hospital image, echoing the "natural healing" space environment.

5 Facade design

The architectural style is modern and elegant, emphasizing the horizontal separation of belt-shaped windows and aluminum curtain walls, and the coordination between virtual and solid proportions and the environment, which not only makes the single building rigorous, but also makes the whole hospital's architectural style complete and unified. The choice of building components and materials, colors and modeling pursue simplicity, using simple design elements to embody the principles of practicality and generosity, as well as the characteristics of modernism.

6 Inheritance and modern inclusive hospital place

Based on the high-tech background characteristics of the construction area, with concise language, the landscape elements of the local landscape and garden characteristics are combined to create a healing, humanistic and soothing place. Remove the impetuousness and crowding of modern society, and let the hospital return to the essence of the benevolence and care of doctors.

As one of the important livelihood projects of the high-tech zone, the People's Hospital of Wujiang Economic and Technological Development Zone strives to become a modern green hospital with the most advanced planning concepts in the development zone and even the entire Wujiang District, providing strong support for the development of the high-tech zone. As a "place", it is not only a hospital, but also creates an urban space, provides a comfortable environment for medical treatment, and stimulates the vitality of surrounding development.
